Honey we have orders....

This is my first post on my blog. I am a Marine wife for 12 years, with 4 kids. I'm starting this blog to keep my friends and family posted on our many adventures. My first post will be about our new adventure and it's a big one. Moving.

"Honey, we have orders." This phrase is what every military family dreads and looks forward to. It means that we are possible moving, leaving our friends, and everything what we have built in the short amount of time that we have called this duty station home.

Mike went to the monitor (the person who decides where we are needed) in early Feb. and called me right after finding out. Our conversation went like this.
Mike, "Honey we have orders."
Me, "Where are we going."
Mike, "Somewhere where you can't take your car."
Me, " We are going to Okinawa, Japan."
Mike, "Yep."
That's all I needed to hear. My mind started racing. This wasn't going to be a normal PCS (permanent change of station) move. There is so much involved with PCSing overseas, medical/dental screening, what we are taking (not much), and what goes to storage for 3 years. We have to get everything done in 4 months. We will do it.
